In Vitro evaluation of the antibacterial activity of Petunia leaf and callus extracts

چکیده
The antimicrobial activity of plant extracts were found in folk medicine as essential oils or isolated compounds. Some of these compounds were isolated or obtained by bio-guided isolation after previously detecting antimicrobial activity on the part of the plant. Petunia is an imporant medicinal and ornamental plant. The in vitro callus induction and antibacterial activity of Petunia leaf and callus extracts were studied against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Baccilus subtilis, Salmonella spp., Streptococcus spp and Staphylococcus aureus. The antibacterial activities of different solvent extracts were determined by disc diffusion method. Among the five solvents used, leaf and callus extracted from chloroform were found to be more effective. The callus induction and antimicrobial activities of Petunia medicinal plants are discussed in the present paper.

In Vitro Antibacterial Activity of Crinum Purpurascens Herb. Leaf Extract Against the Salmonella Species Causing Typhoid Fever and Its Toxicological Evaluation
Background: Crinum purpurascens is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Amaryllidaceae family. We aimed to evaluate the antisalmonellal properties of the leaf extracts and fractions of C. purpurascens, and the toxicity of the most active extract. Methods: Three extracts and three fractions were prepared from the leaves of Crinum purpurascens Herb. (Amaryllidaceae) and tested for their antisalmon...

Plant growth regulators (PGRs) have an important role in callus induction and organogenesis of plant explants cultured in vitro conditions. Callus has a proper potential for plant regeneration through indirect organogenesis and embryogenesis as well suspension culture, genetic transformation and production of secondary metabolites. In current experiment, leaf explants of Petunia × hybrida F1 we...
